We are thrilled to announce the signing of Shaun Owens who joins us from South Wales Ironmen.

Owens will be a familiar face to the All Golds players and supporters after scoring a hat trick against us for the Ironmen earlier this season. Comfortable at hooker or in the halves he looks certain to add quality and experience to our squad. The Welshman could be in line for his debut in Saturday’s game at Barrow after he was named in our 19 man squad.

After signing his contract with us Owens said the chance to play for a club challenging for a top eight place was an opportunity he wasn’t going to turn down. He said: “I’m really happy to have joined the All Golds. I had a good chat with Lee Greenwood last week and he convinced me to sign.

“The All Golds have always been a tough team to play against, they seem able to close out the tight games. They’ve picked up some big scalps already this season and have a good chance of making the top eight.

“The All Golds approached me a couple of years ago and I regret not signing then. When Lee phoned me to offer me a new challenge I wasn’t going to turn him down. Looking ahead I’m just looking forward to doing my best and helping the team out. I’ll play wherever I’m asked, I prefer playing at dummy half but I’ve plenty of experience at half back as well.”

All Golds head coach Lee Greenwood was happy to finally land Owens. He said: “Shaun is a player we’ve had an eye on for a while. He’s dangerous with ball in hand as he showed against us a couple of months ago. If he works hard and shows the right attitude he can be a big player for us.”
