We are pleased to announce we have re-signed Richard Jones from South Wales Ironmen.
Jones was the All Golds’ first ever signing in 2012 when he arrived from Keighley Cougars. He was one of our key players in our first two seasons before a cruciate knee ligament injury ruled him out for 18 months. The second row forward signed with the South Wales Ironmen last autumn but the welsh club have struggled with well documented off field problems and the former Keighley star says the decision to re-join the Golden Fern was an easy one. He said: “After the unfortunate events at south Wales it makes sense to come back. I live locally and the All Golds are a club that I know well. A lot of my friends play for the club so I’m really looking forward to getting back to action.
“The All Golds have done well this season, beating some big teams. We’re sitting in a very interesting position at the moment and are only two points behind Workington who are in sixth place.
“The upcoming games against Hemel and Oxford will be crucial if we’re to get inside the top eight. It’s also important to come away with some wins in case we do miss out so we’re in the best possible position for when the shield starts.
“In a month we travel to Toronto. You don’t often come across the opportunity to play in another country but also challenge yourself against top flight players. It will be an incredible occasion, especially as the game will be on TV and the Wolfpack get such big crowds.
“I can’t wait to get started now, I’m really looking forward to it.”
